DirtFish Performance Driving School Learn to Drive Like a Professional AutoNation Drive

It’s not just for learning how to go head-to-head with a closed dirt course like a true rally driver, although you’ll probably feel like you can afterwards.

DirtFish Performance Driving School, located in Snoqualmie, Washington State, is home to a premier rally school that teaches the greenest and the most hardened drivers how to drive, quite simply, better. Driving is a huge part of our day-to-day lives, and, as with everything, there is always room for improvement. Even if you don’t plan on hitting a gravel-strewn track anytime soon, the driving techniques taught by DirtFish are invaluable to your regular commute, especially in inclement weather. Let’s take a look at some of the rally driving techniques that DirtFish utilizes in their rally school classes.

Our team attended Dirtfish’s Half Day Rally School course. In this class we specifically set out to understand the following concepts, as listed by the DirtFish website itself:

  • Weight Transfer
  • Throttle Management
  • Left Foot Braking
  • Adapt to Understeer and Oversteer
  • Induce and Correct Slides
  • Understand the Proper Rally Line
  • Straight Line Braking
  • How to Maximize Traction

Perhaps the most frequently mentioned concept during the course was that of “weight transfer.” Rally driving is about successfully balancing the car through wicked turns and on treacherous surfaces- as fast as possible. To do this, both safely and efficiently, rally car drivers must have an exceptional understanding of where the weight is at in their car at all times.
